Job Search Through the Newspapers and Internet

How to find a job through the newspaper or Internet First thing we do when we want to find a job – buy a newspaper. Or maybe you use a modern way – look through the job advertisements in the Internet. We get a lot of offers, but we don’t know which one is the best and whether there is a trick. Usually, there are not so many really good offers.
A popular method of phoning to every somehow interesting advertisement has its advantages and disadvantages. Whether it’s a newspaper or Internet, you can not fully rely on it.

Where not to look for a job

Everybody knows that there are a lot of agencies that successfully make money on people who search for a job. Everyone knows, but still we are sometimes fooled by their tricks, because it isn’t easy to discover the false employer. Especially often such agencies offer work that can be done at home. But the percent of such advertisements doesn’t exceed one tenth from the whole amount.
You can also find advertisements that are given not by the employers but by the employment agencies that work as mediators. These advertisements can be easily distinguished: they are very bright, a lot of interesting vacancies, with attractive terms. Usually, in the advertisement there is an address of the agency, but not always (they can act on behalf of an exact firm). Then their interest is - paid services. Job search through employment agencies are often quite effective, that’s why don’t reject them at once.

The best way of job search

So what is the right way of choosing among the majority of job advertisements in such sources?
Of course, first of all you’ll find the most attractive offers. But if you don’t want to be cheated, put aside the advertisements with fabulous salaries and possibility of quick professional growth. You should be very careful, considering a job that acquires initial investments. Or otherwise, the firm doesn’t need anything from you, including education or experience. Such offers are seldom used to find a good specialist.
Don’t grasp the first offer that comes across. First learn all the advertisements. You may also inquire about the requirements of other people, searching for a job in your sphere. Thus you’ll get a criterion for a choice.
Having selected all the necessary vacancies, start calling, inquiring about the details, and if you like the terms, arrange the interview. But not with one firm, but with all of them! Don’t forget that this advertisement will be read by many people, and you may just be late. By the time you decide to call, they may find another person. So don’t postpone - job search requires actions.
Your own advertisement about job search can be effective too. Editions are read not only by those who are willing to find a job. Staff managers and personnel department officers also look through the newspapers and Internet sites.
But don’t enumerate all your skills of a broad specialist. Usually it has only the converse effect, causes the distrust to the person who can work in many spheres except for the needed one. If you are a staff manager, don’t indicate that you have experience in holiday and celebrations organization. Think how this advertisement will look like… It will be right to make a CV in brief terms, that will state you exact skills. Or, if you believe that you have skills that allow you to work in close spheres, it will be better to make few advertisements for every sphere.
When the phone call takes place (no matter who is calling, you or the employer), you should ask all the details about the job. If your search is well organized, you’ll have a notebook with a description of every vacancy. Otherwise, try to learn all the necessary terms. If you hear the phrase “Come to our office and we’ll tell you everything”, you’d better put this variant aside. If you don’t look for a job of publicity agent (this job is usually offered in such way), then consider, whether you should waste you time on it.
Only by mutual consent you may be asked to an interview for a job. Don’t forget to take all the necessary documents. The way you act will affect the result of the interview.

And even if you were not taken, or you can’t, because of some reasons, take the job, continue the job search. Every week buy a fresh newspaper or/and look through the Internet pages to find new job advertisements. And at the same time give your new advertisements in these editions. You’ll need all your persistence to find a good job in short terms. Good luck!
