If you don’t want to waste a lot of time on everyday office cleaning, you should just try to keep an order in it. It is well-known that if the workplace is in order, the work becomes more pleasant, effective and even safer. It is better to do the job, on which you, as always, don’t have time, then to waste your time on the search of some trifles, isn’t it?
So let’s, first of all, put our work place in order.
Work place cleaning
Piles of papers and folders cover your entire table, and maybe even lay all around your desk. It is very difficult to find something necessary, especially if you need it… Familiar situation?
- Stop doing it, whatever you are doing. Right now!
- Start a cleaning from the paper that lie on the floor. Try to do it as quickly as possible. Get rid of all the papers you don’t need. Don’t leave them just in case.
- Now do the same with the papers on your table.
- Make sure that files maintain the documents that should be there, that the folders are not mixed.
- If you have (I’m sure you have) pieces of paper with notes, collect them, rewrite the notes on one large piece of paper or buy a notebook.
To put everything in order in your office, you need time to make sure that everything is under control.
- Make up a week plan of office cleaning.
- In the end of every day, leave an absolutely clean office.
- File all the papers or put then in separate folder as soon as you are done with them.
Office equipment
Office cleaning consists also of keeping order of office equipment. Tangles of cords and broken equipment can lead to serious safety problems.
- Make sure that there are UPSs.
- Don’t surcharge network systems.
- Untangle all the cords and put then in order due to their marks.
- Make sure that any of your equipment doesn’t have damaged or cut wires.
Ten most useful advices
- Make a list the work you have to do to clean the office.
- Divide all the correspondence on categories, for example, in folders: “Urgent/Important”, “Not urgent/ not important”, “Interim folder” (the correspondence you are not sure about, if it is urgent or not).
- File all the papers as you are done with them.
- Divide the work you have to do by priority.
- Get rid of everything you don’t need.
- Wash the cups and put all the pens and pencils in one place.
- Keep you work place in order, don’t create an artistic confusion.
- Check your “Interim folder” regularly.
- Cross out the items from the list of work as they are done.
- Rewrite the list of the work, that you have to do every week.
Cleaning
So, we have already put our work place in order, now let’s look around. All the rules of home cleaning are applied here too. What are these rules?
- First of all, dust everything – bookcases, window sills, desks, chairs, everything where dust can be.
- Wipe all the places where was dust with damp cloth.
- Water the flowers and plants. Don’t overdo! Remember that in summer plants like a lot of water, in winter - a little.
- If you have carpets in office, they should be vacuum cleaned at least once in two days. Carpets should be periodically cleaned wet in order to moisten the air, to fresh the office. If there are no carpets, then the premise should be wiped every day, the floor should be washed once in two-three days.
- Windows should be washed as soon as they get dirty, not too often and not too rare. Ideally, once in 2-3 months.

Nowadays there are a lot of cleaning companies. Their workers are learned and have the necessary training for the work. Why it is better to use cleaning company? You should think over, if it is reasonable to widen the stuff and increase the wages; who is going to buy all the necessary things for cleaning; if there is free space for cleaning equipment and so on. Cleaning companies use the latest technologies and know a lot of cleaning secrets, due to which your office will stay clean for long time.
