Solarium - How to Get a Tan

Summer is coming soon and we are going to wear open dresses and light T-shirts. And of course we want to show you beautiful tanned skin. If you didn’t manage to go on vacation, artificial solarium sun would help you. But to get a beautiful tan, you should follow few rules.

Pluses and minuses

It is well-known, that ultraviolet assists immunity strengthening, fastens the metabolism, activates the creation of vitamin D3, which helps to overcome depression, strengthens bones and muscular tissue. Ultraviolet even helps to increase male sexual potency! Besides, few visits to solarium will prepare your skin for a holiday in hot countries and sunbathing on the beach.
But the same ultraviolet destroys skin collagen, leading to premature aging, makes your hair dry and fragile, it is also the cause of cancer diseases. So few hours in solarium will make your face and skin tanned and will make you younger, but abuse of tan will negatively affect your appearance and mood.

Tan and the type of skin. How much sun do you need?

First skin type (Celtic) - very light and easily burned skin with many freckles, light-blue, light-green or light-grey eyes, light or red hair.
People with such skin type are not recommended to sunbathe at all. But if you want to get tan very much, use special creams before and after the tanning, don’t stay in the solarium for more then 10 minutes, and don’t go there more then two times a week. First session should be no more then 3-5 minutes.
Second skin type (light-skinned European) – light, frequently burned skin with few freckles, blue, grey or green eyes, light hair.
Start tanning from 3-5 minute sessions, then 10-15 minutes, no more then 3 times a week.
Third skin type (dark-skinned European) – quite light, but rarely burned skin, grey or brown eyes, light-brown or chestnut hair.
You can tan for 20 minutes, but no more then 3 times a week, 5-6 sessions would be enough.
Forth skin type (Mediterranean) – dark, easily tanned skin, hazel eyes and dark hair.
To get a beautiful tan, you should visit only 3-4 sessions of 20 minutes.

Tanning rules

Before visiting the solarium, consult with a doctor, because there are a lot of drugs that heighten light-sensitivity and provoke ultraviolet allergy. You can not take these drugs, while visiting solarium. It isn’t recommended to visit solarium during the pregnancy period. Solarium is not advised for people suffering from dermatitis, hypertension or liver diseases.
Use a cotton hat or a scarf to protect your hair, otherwise your hair will loose its shine, grow dim and fragile. Don’t forget sunglasses.
Don’t take a shower with soap just before the session, soap destroys protective skin fat and it can lead to burning. Ultraviolet sensitivity is higher after the epilation.
During the session don’t use cosmetics, deodorants, creams and aroma oils. Remove all the jewelry.
It is better not to tan topless, especially if you are over 30.
Use special suntan preparation (to protect skin from burning and to get an equal tan) and a cream after sun (to moisture and cool the skin, and to strengthen the tan).
Ultraviolet activates metabolism, that’s why try to have a rest after the solarium, drink some juice or green tea, don’t do any physical work. Why not to pet ourselves? We deserve it. So get tan with pleasure.
